    The benefits of autonomous trucking to the state and the challenges faced in implementing the technology will be key topics of the North Dakota Autonomous Trucking Conference to be held in Bismarck, October 16-17.

    There are two upcoming RIFDS training sessions. The sessions will be held on October 15-17 as well as October 22-24, 2024. Training will be held at the NIPTC, 1011 Indian School Road NW, Albuquerque, NM. Each session is open to 28 students.     This inaugural event, May 14 – 16, will bring together Tribal road maintenance practitioners and staff from the Bureau of Indian Affairs Division of Transportation and BIA Regional Tribal Transportation Program. The event will provide essential support for Tribal transportation directors, supervisors, planners, office staff, equipment operators, project managers, and others. Registration is open and there are opportunities for sponsors and vendors.

    The Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program funds regional, local, and Tribal initiatives through grants to prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries. Funds for the fiscal year (FY) 2024 SS4A grant program are to be awarded on a competitive basis to support planning, infrastructural, behavioral, and operational initiatives to prevent death and serious injury on roads and streets involving all roadway users, including pedestrians; bicyclists; public transportation, personal conveyance, and micro-mobility users; motorists; and commercial vehicle operators.
